We do not advocate the wearing of animal fur -

Stella Starr presents a form of Cinematic Dance Theatre...
- creating visually stunning diverse works of surreal and magical beauty
- combining elements of dark and light, mystery and humour, cinema and theatre.

The company is led by artistic director and performer Stella Starr - a veteran artiste of both
silver screen (see Jeff Keen) and stage (see Vavavavoom!) Stella Starr has worked in film, dance,
music and drama all her life. Having performed in cabaret since the early 1990’s, she set up
Vavavavoom!™ as the first Burlesque performance company in the UK.

It began as a subversive club night, encouraging audience participation on a grand scale.
Vavavavoom!™ then quickly established itself as a legendary show, which has since developed
into the new Dance Theatre Company Theatre of Fur™ with an ongoing prolific output.

Ms Starr devises the shows, sometimes performs as well and, working closely in a long term
collaboration with choreographer Fifi de Maintenon, is developing a very talented cast and crew.
Inspirations come from many places - Surrealism in art and film, books, music + choreography:
Lindsay Kemp
(who Stella's aunt Cecilia worked with), Martha Graham, Pina Bausch, Michael Clark,
Hermes Pan
, Agnes de Mille and Bob Fosse - to name but a few...

We are looking to collaborate on all our projects with other new and established artists and
companies as well as mentoring new performers so please contact if interested!
